This Week in Orange Politics: February 17-23

It's a quieter week in local government this week. In Carrboro, the Board of Aldermen will look at potential changes to towing regulations while the Town Council in Chapel Hill will open a public hearing on changes to the Land Use Management Ordinance and the County Commissioners will discuss whether to approve the Operations Agreement for the Rogers Road Community Center. Both school boards and the Hillsborough Town Board have the week off.

 

 

CARRBORO BOARD OF ALDERPERSONS

    • The Transportation Advisory Board will make a presentation on a Downtown Slow Zone concept.

    • The Board will discuss possible changes to towing regulations and be provided with information on the concerns of the Tow Operators about the current and proposed towing regulations.


CHAPEL HILL TOWN COUNCIL

    • The Council will open a public hearing on changes to the Land Use Management Ordinance concerning the restructuring and renaming of the Community Design Commission.

    • The Council will also receive a concept plan for the Courtyards of Homestead, a proposed multi-family development on 17.9 acres at 2209 Homestead Road.

  • Planning Board, Tuesday, February 18, 7pm, Town Operations Center, Public Works Building #1 – Large Conference Room (6850 Millhouse Road)

    • The Planning Board will consider a Zoning Atlas Amendment and a LUMO amendment concerning form-based code, both of which relate to the proposed rezoning at Ephesus-Fordham.

  • Joint Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission, Greenways Commission and Sustainability Committee, Wednesday, February 19, 7pm, Chapel Hill Public Library, Meeting Room B

    • The purpose of this meeting is to gather input from Town advisory boards regarding the newly created Environmental Stewardship Advisory Board.

  • Ephesus Church/Fordham Public Information Meeting, Thursday, February 20, 4:30pm-6:40pm, Chapel Hill Public Library, Meeting Room B

    • The community is invited to provide input on the proposed rezoning and renewal efforts for the Ephesus/Fordham area.


CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION

  • There is no meeting scheduled this week. The next scheduled business meeting is March 6.


HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD

  • There is no meeting scheduled this week. The next scheduled business meeting is February 24.


ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
