This Week in Orange Politics: February 24-March 2

Candidate filing closes this Friday, so don’t forget to join us Friday night at Steel String Brewing in Carrboro to meet candidates in this year's elections at our Candidate Coming Out Party.

In terms of the county’s public bodies, the national issues of Medicaid expansion and the Affordable Care Act will come before the Chapel Hill Town Council and Orange County School Board, while Carrboro and the County Commissioners will both hold hearings on their respective land use ordinances.

 

CARRBORO BOARD OF ALDERPERSONS

Regular Meeting: Tuesday, February 25, 2014, 7:30pm, Town Hall Board Room

  • The board will hold public hearings on a number of Land Use Ordinance Amendments and also discuss adopting revisions to the Durham Chapel Hill Carrboro-MPO Memorandum of Understanding.

 

CHAPEL HILL TOWN COUNCIL

Regular Meeting: Monday, February 24, 7pm, Southern Human Services Center

  • Agenda Items of Note:

    • The Council will consider a special use permit for the Children's Campus of Chapel Hill at 1620 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

    • The Council will receive the results of the 2013 Chapel Hill Community Survey.

CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION

  • The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education will meet in closed session via conference call on Tuesday, February 25 at 5:30 p.m.

  • The next scheduled business meeting is March 6th.


HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD

Monthly Workshop: Monday, February 24, 7 pm, Town Barn
