This Week in Orange Politics: April 7-13

Budgets and facilities planning will top the agendas of many of Orange County's public bodies this week. The Chapel Hill Town Council will receive an update from the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools on facilities planning, while both the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education and the County Commission will work on priorities for upcoming budget years. The County Commission will also hear an update on the County Manager's proposed capital investment plan.

 

Some of the other events around the county will include a Rosemary Imagined Review Committee meeting, a Justice United forum on the influence of ALEC and an input session on the Southern Branch Library siting.

CARRBORO BOARD OF ALDERPERSONS

Regular Meeting: Tuesday, April 8th, at 7:30 pm at Carrboro Town Hall

    • Michael Adamson will present his plan for the Carrboro Mural project at Highway 54 and Jones Ferry Road to the Board.

    • The Board will discuss the affordable housing goals and strategies developed by the Affordable Housing Task Force.

    • The Board will provide input into the scope of a study on solid waste issues.

 

CHAPEL HILL TOWN COUNCIL

Work Session: Wednesday, April 9th, 6pm, Chapel Hill Public Library

    • The Council will receive an update from Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools concerning school facilities planning.

    • The Council will also receive an update and check-in about the Obey Creek development agreement process.

 

CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION

Regular Meeting: Thursday, April 10th, 7pm, Lincoln Center

    • The Board will receive a recommendation concerning flat rate increases requested by Tharrington Smith.

    • The Board will review and approve the 2014-15 budget request to the Orange County Board of Commissioners

    • The Board will receive and consider a report concerning the reservation of school sites

 

HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD

  • There is no scheduled meeting this week. The next regular meeting is on Wednesday, April 14th, at 7 pm.

 

ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Work Session: Tuesday, April 8th, 7 pm, Link Government Services Center, Hillsborough

Budget Work Session: Thursday, April 10th, 7 pm, Southern Human Services Center, Chapel Hill
