This Week in Orange Politics: October 20-26

Early voting starts week! Don’t forget out there and let you voice be heard.

While both school boards and the Hillsborough Town Board, the County Commissioners will consider operational changes at the Community Home Trust and endorsing staff recommendations for new bus service in the central and rural parts of the county. The Carrboro Alderfolks will schedule a public hearing on the Lloyd Farm Conditional Use Permit and the Chapel Hill Town Council will review a number of development proposals.

Throughout the week, Chapel Hill Transit will hold public input meetings on the North-South Corridor.

CARRBORO BOARD OF ALDERPERSONS

CHAPEL HILL TOWN COUNCIL

  • Public Hearing: Monday, October 20th, 7pm @ Chapel Hill Town Hall
    • On Monday, the Council will hold public hearings on the voluntary annexation of Burch Kove, a text amendment to LUMO concerning the remaining unzoned portions of the Ephesus-Fordham area, and a zoning atlas amendment also concerning the remaining portions of the Ephesus-Fordham area.
    • The Council will also review concept plans for a proposed hotel at the corner of Rosemary and Church Sts and the Station at Barbee Chapel, a proposed office building at the southwest corner of Hwy 54 and Barbee Chapel Rd.

CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION

  • The school board will not meet this week. Their next scheduled meeting is November 6th.

HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD

  • The town board will not meet this week. Their next scheduled meeting is October 27th.

ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

  • Regular Meeting: Tuesday, October 21st, 7pm @ Southern Human Services Center
    • The Board will approve a letter of intent for the Southern Branch Library project
    • The Board will consider operational changes proposed by the Community Home Trust
    • The Board will discuss a staff-recommended Orange Public Transportation five-year bus service expansion program in central and rural Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

  • The school board will not meet this week. Their next scheduled meeting is October 27th.
