Welcome to the first of two OP candidate forums for this election season. Kirk Ross and the editors (except Jeff, who's studying for exams) are gathering at OP forum headquarters in Carrboro for pre-forum munchies from Med Deli.As of yesterday afternoon, all four candidates for the Orange County Board of Education have registered on OP.Please join in.

... there are only three candidates participating. Any word from Tommy McNeill?

No sign of McNeill, though he indicated he would participate. By the way, here's the incumbent-challenger lineup:

  • Halkiotis - incumbent
  • McKnight - incumbent
  • McNeill - challenger
  • Sanders - challenger

Readng through these responses brought back some tense memories for me of trying to answer everything while not sounding stupid in the time allotted.  But nicely done -- congrats to the candidates who participated for getting through it and providing some insight on how they think about issues and how their approaches might differ as well.  Thanks as well to Kirk -- good questions that provided depth of answers while not being too wonky for those who don't follow all the time.

Thanks James, I could not have stated what it feels like any better. (By the way, my subject title is a popular phrase coined by the comedian Chris Tucker.)
