Sample ballots are out, and Orange starts mailing out absentee ballots on Tuesday the 11th.

The key to which precincts get which ballot ind the links to the ballots are at http://www.co.orange.nc.us/elect/SampleBallot.asp

there are four styles because of Orange being in two congressional and two state house districts.

Style 4 is used only in Cameron Park

Style 3 is used only in six northern precincts (Caldwell, Carr, Cedar Grove, Efland, Eno, St Marys, Tolars)

Styles 1 and 2 cover the rest

Amendment One Final Results Now Available by Precinct

The board of elections has now allocated all early votes back to the precinct level from the primary, and here are the precinct-by-precinct totals for Amendment One.

Cianciolo, Dehart to apply for Penny Rich vacancy

Chapel Hill Magazine's The Weekly had a nice scoop this afternoon. "The WEEKLY has learned that George Cianciolo will make himself a candidate to fill 's council seat after she moves to BOCC."They also noted that Jon Dehart will seek the appointment as well.  Should be interseting to see their article next week, particularly if they have other names of folks planning to run. Also worth noting that if Penny was replaced by George or Jon, who'd both make good councilmen, that would leave only 2 women (22% of council/mayor) representing 53% of Chapel Hill... 

5041 new voters since January 1, with 1,540 of them at early voting

5041 new voters registered in Orange County since January 1, 2012, and of those 1,540 signed up to register during the early voting period. That's about 9% of the 16,498 casting early votes.

That's a good running start for the fall and a high level of new registration for a primary.

Early voting opens with a bang: 605 at Ramshead day 1

Early voting opened with a bang Monday.

1270 early voters countywide Monday, here are totals by location: 

  • Ramshead on campus 605
  • Carrboro Town Hall 226
  • Seymour Center 243
  • BOE office in Hillsborough 168
  • Mt Zion (Cedar Grove) 28
