Yesterday at noon, Chapel Hill's Economic Development Officer Dwight Bassett provided a brief, one-hour presentation outlining some key facts and developments concerning retail, housing, and office space in Chapel Hill. The full presentation can be viewed here.

The Town of Chapel Hill invites the community to participate in information sessions about zoning opportunities for the Ephesus Church Road-Fordham Boulevard area.

To reach as many residents as possible, meetings with identical presentations will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chamber of Town Hall, 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Family, 200 Hayes Road.

Positive changes go hand in hand in east Chapel Hill

A few days ago we heard that the Ram's Plaza strip mall has been sold to a real estate development/management company, The Kalkow Group. This is can't be unrelated to the Town's recent completion of the draft Ephesus Church Road/Fordham Boulevard Small Area Plan. (In fact, it may even have been anticipated by the Town, I admit I didn't follow the process very closely.) A recent Chapel Hill News article shows how closely they are tied together...

I might have heard something about this before, but in reading the annual update from the Town of Chapel Hill's Economic Development Director, I realized that the Town is not just beginning but actually finishing a plan for the area around the intersection of 15-501 and Ephesus Church Road (including Eastgate and Ram's Plaza).
