The financial plan outlines the variety of revenue sources necessary to support the Orange County Bus and Rail Transit Investment Plan, which includes light rail transit, bus rapid transit, an intercity rail station in Hillsborough, and improved local and regional bus service.

Based on feedback from commissioners at their May 15th meeting, Triangle Transit staff have made minor edits to the draft plan and provided a new draft for public review. It's important to note that if you attended the public workshops on April 3 or April 17, or last week's BOCC meeting, the content of the plan is the same in terms of when bus and rail services are implemented, the number of bus hours in the first five years is exactly the same, and the number of bus hours by the end of the plan is exactly the same.See the links below to PDF documents: Orange County Bus and Rail Investment Plan 5-23-2012 (PDF) Plan Appendices 5-23-2012 (PDF) These supercede the documents linked to above in the original post.

The Orange Commissioners, by two 5-2 votes, passed the Bus and Rail Plan for the County, and set a referendum for the Fall.Commissioners McKee and Yuhasz, as has been the case frequently on this issue since this Fall, were the dissenting votes. Having been a small part of passing the Durham County referendum, I can attest that there's a lot of hard work ahead. All you early voting experts out there, your expertise will be needed. Ed Harrison

DCHCMPO has the transit plan on its agenda for 6/13. Triangle Transit has the transit plan and referendum on its agenda for 6/27

Am looking forward to voting on both occasions for the Orange County transit plan, and for the referendum as well at the Triangle Transit Plan, so that the voters of the County are allowed to decide this critically important issue. Ed Harrison

My understanding is that one product of the BOCC work session item will be some form of citizens advisory committee for the referendum.  Would like to thank one or more of you at the OP social on Friday who presented me with some critical questions that really need to be answered in making the case for the referendum to the voters. Ed Harrison
