With the elections behind us, Orange County's boards and commissions are getting back to work. The Carrboro Alderpersons' meeting may shape up to be an exciting one, with some in the business community requesting more information from the IFC about it's planned Food First Community Kitchen. The Chapel Hill Town Council will review several concepts and hold public hearings on changes to the LUMO and a special use permit, while the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board will discuss how to use its assigned reserve funds. The county commissions will talk living wage and consider entering into a new interlocal agreement for "Launch Chapel Hill"
Both the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners and the county school board are on break this week. The Assembly of Governments meeting originally scheduled for November 19 has been cancelled.
CARRBORO BOARD OF ALDERPERSONS
- Business Meeting: November 17, 2015, at 7:30 pm, Carrboro Town Hall
- The Board will receive a presentation from students from the UNC Department of City and Regional Planning on their study of the feasibility of a Carrboro bike-share scheme.
- The Board will review a revised draft ordinance to amend the Land Use Ordinance establishing a new use classification for facilities providing social services with dining as a permissible use in certain zoning districts and whether to set a public hearing for January 26, 2016.
CHAPEL HILL TOWN COUNCIL
- Public Hearing: November 16, 2015, at 7:00 pm, Chapel Hill Town Hall
- The council will consider changes to the LUMO, a special use permit and a request to close section of right-of-way in Southern Village
- The board will review concept plans for an expansion of Lincoln Center and a new office developemnt on Weaver Dairy Road
CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION
- Business Meeting: November 19, 2015, at 7:00 pm, Lincoln Center
- The board will discuss a plan for the future use of the nearly $6 million in reserve funds it ened the last fiscal year with
- The board will get an update on the Exceptional Children Program
HILLSBOROUGH BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
- There is no meeting this week. The next meeting will be a monthly work session on November 30th.
ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
- Business Meeting: November 17, 2015, at 7:00 pm, Southern Human Services Center
- The board will consider a new interlocal agreement with the town to continue the "Launch Chapel Hill" program
- The board will get an update on the county's living wage policies
ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION
- There is no meeting this week. The next meeting will be a monthly work session on November 23rd.
