This Week in Orange Politics: November 9-15, 2015

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board is the only board that will not meet this week. The Carrboro Board of Alderpersons will hold a work session on several items. The Chapel Hill Town Council will discuss financing of various public improvement projects. The Orange County School Board will discuss the process for filling the vacancy left by Lawrence Sanders, who resigned from the Board last month to pursue a job opportunity.

CARRBORO BOARD OF ALDERPERSONS

CHAPEL HILL TOWN COUNCIL

  • Business Meeting: November 9, 2015, at 7:00 pm, Chapel Hill Town Hall
    • The Council will receive a petition and schedule a public hearing for voluntary annexation of the Obey Creek property.
    • The Council will receive an update on the financing plan and schedule for Ephesus-Fordham public improvements, Town Hall renovations, and other capital projects.
    • The Council will receive an update from Chapel Hill Transit on the North-South Corridor Study.

CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION

  • There is no meeting this week. The Board's next meeting is November 19th.

HILLSBOROUGH BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

  • Business Meeting: November 10, 2015, at 7:00 pm, Southern Human Services Building
    • The Board will receive an update to the changes in eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamps).
    • The Board will receive an update on the Affordable Housing Strategic Plan under development and continue discussion about establishing a process and criteria to fund affordable housing projects.

  • Our monthly OP Editors Meeting will be Sunday, November 15th at 11 am at Looking Glass Cafe in Carrboro.
