Allen Buansi Announces Candidacy for Chapel Hill Town Council

CHAPEL HILL - Allen Buansi proudly announces his candidacy for Chapel Hill Town Council. He is a homegrown product of Chapel Hill. From an early age, he was pushed to give back and serve his community. As he moved through Guy B. Phillips Middle and East Chapel Hill High School, his mother demanded his efforts in the fight for clean air and water for black and Latino communities in eastern North Carolina. His high school counselor encouraged him to take action in the election of 2004 when he organized students to register voters.

That push to serve became a calling as he frequently returned to Chapel Hill during college breaks to coach, tutor and assist high school students in realizing their college dreams. After graduating from Dartmouth College and later while at UNC Law, Allen continued to serve the Chapel Hill community as a mentor, coach, town subcommittee member, town commission member, NAACP Legal Redress chair, statewide campaign policy and field director and now, as a civil rights attorney.

As our town grapples with challenges around inclusiveness, transparency and growth, Allen seeks to serve our community in a different way. To the Town Council, he would bring the perspective of a young, open-minded leader and attorney who is rooted in Chapel Hill.

“I will work tirelessly to ensure our Town works for everyone and for future generations of Chapel Hill residents," Buansi said. "I believe in the promise of Chapel Hill as a community for all.”

Allen works hard, listens well, and is thoughtful and deliberate. Visit allenbuansi.org for more information about Allen's platform. He would be honored to have your input, your support and your vote in November.
