We will update this thread with news of who is announcing their candidacy. Starting next week, we will launch our election coverage with detailed information as candidates file for Chapel Hill Town Council, Carrboro Board of Alderfolks, and Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools Board of Education.

Filing runs from July 6th to July 17th, 2015.

Then on July 17th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm we hope you'll join us for the Candidate Coming Out Party and Happy Hour at DSI Comedy.

Six Apply for Vacant Chapel Hill Town Council Seat

Wednesday marked the deadline for applying to be appointed to the Chapel Hill Town Council seat vacated by Matt Czajkowski when he resigned earlier this year.

A total of six folks applied. You can read their applications online, and find a short description of each candidate's background in a news release issued by the town. In a special meeting of the Council on Monday at 6 p.m., each candidate will have the opportunity to make brief remarks on why they're most qualified, and the following week, on Monday, May 4, the Council will decide whether or not to make an appointment.

Spanish radio election ads

Tonight I was listening to FM101.1 La Ley and heard two senate ads in Spanish back to back. The first was by Ben Carson PAC. The theme was that Hagan sends her kids to private school but opposes vouchers while Tillis gave vouchers to thousands of kids (hispanos). The second ad was by People for the American Way. The theme was that Tillis cut millions from education and health but gave rich Carolinians lots of tax breaks. VOTE! (This is my second attempt to post this, the first one didn't show up.)

It's Tuesday. VOTE!

Went to our precinct today -- haven't been there in quite some time, as we've so often opted for early voting. Wow. What a lonely exercise. It worries me. We went  in ... no voters there. Ran into one person coming in as we left. If you have't voted yet -- there's still a few minutes left!  VOTE!!!
