Endorsement Thread 2014: Who Are You Voting For?

As of 9am today, early voting in the May 2014 primary election is underway. That means it's time for the annual OrangePolitics endorsement thread where we ask you, if you feel so inclined, to share with the community who you are voting for (or would vote for) and why.

Here is our list of all of the candidates with links to their websites and social media. You can also review all the information about this year's races that we have here on OP, including:

As always, this is a special-rules post. The rules: Only write who you're voting for (and why, if you like). You may also list the people you would vote for if you lived in their districts. Do not refer in any way to to any candidates you are not supporting. If you don't follow the rules, your comment will be removed. You're free to critique the candidates through comments on other posts or by posting your own blog entry. In fact, you're warmly invited to do so!

Now tell us YOUR picks

It's that time of year again. Early voting is already underway, and those of us who pay literally any attention to local politics are frequently asked by the rest of the world for whom they should vote.

Please share with us you're voting for and why. You may also list the people you would vote for if you lived in their districts. Do not refer in any way to to any candidates you are not supporting. You're free to critique the candidates through comments on other posts or by posting your own blog entry. In fact, you're strongly encouraged to do so!

This is a special-rules post, which means we will remove any comments that do not follow the rules above.

Who are you voting for?

The primary is coming up on Tuesday, May 2nd. You can still vote early tomorrow, and the polls will be open from 6:30 AM-7:30 PM on election day.

There are races for County Commissioner, Congress, Superior Court, and State Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. See the OP Election Guide for a full list, with links to local candidates and other information.

Who are you endorsing and why? Please write only about who you are endorsing- any negative comments will be deleted.

Happy voting!

Elections 2004

I am excited to release our first-ever Orange Politics Voter Guide! This is not intended to endorse any candidate or issue, although readers may feel free to post their own endorsements in the comments with the caveat that you may not refer to any other candidates that you are not endorsing (same rules as this primary thread).

A lot of this inforation is available from the Orange County Board of Elections or the N.C Board of Elections.

We tried to find candidate web sites when available, please contact us if you have more information. Also, we would like to add columns listing which endorsements each candidate has received, but we need volunteers to do the research... hint hint. Basically, this is a work in progress, so wait until closer to the election before you print it out for November 2.
