This Week in Orange Politics: March 10-16

 

Teacher contracts, traffic and and affordable housing can all be found on the agendas of Orange County’s elected bodies this week. The Carrboro Board of Alderperson will get an update on downtown traffic and discuss how to incentivize environmentally friendly developments, while  an affordable housing strategy will be before the Chapel Hill Town Council. In Hillsborough, the Town Board will consider approving several new developments,


CARRBORO BOARD OF ALDERPERSONS


Regular Meeting: Tuesday, March 11, 7:30 pm, Town Hall Board Room

    • The Board will hold a work session to discuss ways to expedite and incentivize environmentally friendly development projects.

    • The Board will discuss regulations affecting land uses with drive-in and drive-through windows.

    • The Board will receive an update on the Downtown Traffic Circulation and Traffic Model Analysis.


CHAPEL HILL TOWN COUNCIL

Business Meeting: Monday, March 10th at 7pm, Southern Human Services Center

    • The Council will consider the proposed Affordable Rental Housing Strategy for adoption.

    • The Council will also consider amendments to the Land Use Management Ordinance concerning the proposed restructuring of the Town’s advisory boards.

  • There is no scheduled meeting this week. The next scheduled business meeting is March 20.

 


HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD

ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS


Work Session: Tuesday, March 11, 7 pm, Department of Social Services, Hillsborough

    • The board will receive an update on the Cedar Grove Community Center project

    • The board will hear the County Manager’s capital investment plan for the next 5 years



ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

Regular Meeting: Monday, March 10th, 7 pm, Central Office Board Room, Hillsborough

    • The board will discuss its upcoming priorities

    • The board will consider the issue of offering contracts to a quarter of teachers to comply with state law

    • The board will decide whether to approve a digital learning plan for the district
