I already wish I had never heard the term "freezing fog." What is this fresh, freezing cold, hell?
I'm sitting in my home office looking out on Umstead Drive where the cars have been sitting still for at least the last 10 minutes. Have heard reports of at least two people who got stuck and are walking home miles in the snow.
Apparently, this is the stormaggeddon we've been waiting for. I can't wait until it freezes tonight!
How are y'all doing?
Today there was a 2 hour delay for the public schools because of the cold weather. Carl got up at the usual time and walked to Southern Village to see a friend. I biked to the UNC campus and visited the Science Library Annex in Wilson. It's been a while since I have been there. The departamental libraries (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Geology etc.) have been combined. A number of books are now in storage including many of the tropical birds books by Alexander Skutch.
The rain has been pouring down and I'm thinking even if the snow doesn't stick, temperatures below freezing tonight are going to make tomorrow morning treacherous at best.
How is everyone doing out there? Did you stock up on your white stuff? Feel free to share updates closings, conditions, etc.
So the 2-3 inches of snow never materialized, but we got just enough ice to slow things to a halt and shut down the schools.
This isn't the kind of snow day where there's much fun to be had outside. What are y'all making of it?
