Give the Indy a piece of your mind

The Independent Weekly is asking for feedback on their political blog, dent. This is in concert with an article they're publishing next week about a book tour appearance by two major political bloggers, including Markos Moulitsas who was on a panel with me at South by Southwest. The article will also talk about political blogging in the Triangle.

Here's the thing: I thought it would be fun, and instructive, to ask some local bloggers–and blog-readers–to comment on “dent” so far (it's still pretty new) as an instrument of progressive politics. Tell us, iow, what the Indy should be doing, blog-wise, to advance the cause. If we get an interesting thread going, I'll excerpt it in the Indy next week alongside the main story.
- dent » Help wanted: Your take on “dent” is what?

Personally, I think dent is a pretty good blog. The writing is good (obviously) and it's an opportunity to get deeper into the work the reporters are doing, or things there isn't space to write about. For example, I recently enjoyed reading Fiona Morgan's updates on the Duke rape case. It's one of the few blogs that I always keep up with. My only peeve is that Kirk's brief morning updates are so terse that I don't always know what a link is referring to. But I think he's being intentionally coy, it works as a personal style.

Issues:

Comments

The writing is good, but it isn't updated frequently enough that I ever think to check on it for current/local news. Judging from the lack of comments on most items, it's not drawing very many readers, either.
