Drought winding down

Can I just say YAY.

The Orange Water and Sewer Authority has lifted Stage 1 water restrictions, which limited watering to one day per week, among other measures.

[...]

OWASA customers remain on year-round conservation measures, which limit irrigation to three days per week (even addresses on Wednesday and Friday and Sunday; odd addresses on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday).

Watering is restricted to 1 inch per week and must be done before 9 a.m. and after 8 p.m.

Damn...I was hoping to sell excess well water to the thirsty hordes ;)
Conservation is a beautiful thing.  I think this demonstrates how much potential there is to eliminate wasteful water use in our area.
I agree. I feel that the water use restrictions raises people's awareness of how little water we potentially have. And that by removing those restrictions that tells everyone that it is okay to waste water. Of course I don't beleive everyone does in fact waste water but none-the-less that is the message that I receive.
We could do the same or better with electrical useage.

Yes, the message is good, but not quite as good as the chart makes it appear at first glance. This is a classic poor use of the chart as an information tool:

Next, I hope not too many people are upset as the newspaper made out about the fee hikes.  With reduced water usage comes reduced income for OWASA, and they don't have a choice.

Or gasoline or natural gas or . . .

But only our water utility is managed with accountability to the public.  Alas.
